Square Enix officially explained the plot hole in Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Square Enix officially explained the plot hole in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which may be related to the upcoming Rebirth.
When Iris and Claud first meet in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, she notices that he is a former soldier, and calls him a mercenary – the conjecture was based on the fact that he was using the legendary baster sword. In the Japanese version, she calls it just "all hands".
In any case, Iris does not have an obvious way to find out about this, since they have not met with Claud before. The strongest fan theory was that Iris knew Zak (known for Crisis Core), who was also a soldier, and recognized the outfit of Claud.
However, the new official message explains that Iris has vague memories of future events and therefore knows about Claud and other characters before meeting with them.
What she called Clauda a mercenary (or "all hands"), it happened unintentionally, since it somehow "I remembered" This is about him. The same can be said about a later scene where Iris knows that Tifa is going to ask her to save Marlin, even before she says it.
In addition, whenever one of the ghosts touches Iris, he takes these memories from her. Ghosts, as you remember from the game, are the runs of fate trying to keep the characters on the right track, but Iris, who has these memories of the future, seems to be able to change the fate.
What can this mean for Rebirth?
As we know, Square Enix does not just retell the plot of the original game, but seems to make a commentary on the nature of fate and sequels, distorting familiar plot moments. Thus, Rebirth plot is likely to repeat the original in general terms, but with some new turns.
What else can Iris be involuntarily recognized? Will ZAU play a more significant role? And, perhaps, the most important thing is whether she will predict her own death?
