Skyblivion modification was close to despair after hacking: “The work of my whole life is destroyed”

Skyblivion, a project to recreate the content of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the Skyrim engine, is one of the most promising upcoming mods. Therefore, many fans anxiously took the news that its creators became the object of a hacker attack. Fortunately, now the situation has been resolved.

The head of the project said that someone broke his account and took control of the Discord channel dedicated to the project. The creator was in full despair. How he said on his Twitter:

My account was hacked. People responsible for this remove everything from TESRSKYBLIVION Work of my life is destroyed.

These messages concerned fans, especially since the head of the project announced the lack of contact with Discord support service. Of course, it was difficult to imagine Discord as a single place to store modification files, but the channel is used as the main tool for the coordination of the work of all fans related to the project. Therefore, if I had to recreate this infrastructure on the new Discord, this could take a lot of time and lead to a delay in the project.

Fortunately, it all ended well. The developers of the project have already restored control over the channel, and, apparently, the hackers did not cause really serious damage. They only deleted some channels of the developers, as a result of which thousands of messages were lost, but this should not adversely affect the work of the modders.

Recall that the modification is expected to work with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. To install the project, it will take the presence of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Work on Skyblivion has been underway since 2012. A few months ago, the authors announced that their creation would be released in 2025. Given how quickly the situation with Discord was resolved, this incident should not affect the delay in the project.
